Young widow is looking to hit the re-fresh button on life’s unexpected do-over.
Pain, humor and passion provoke her to reveal the secrets of . . .
                                            Why The Widow Wears Black.

A young family continues Spring Break in Orlando, while Gabriel, the father, returns to California.
He’s the brains of his Los Angeles-based law firm with a line-up of client appointments, but he arrives
in LA and dies instead. That unknown critical bit of information now lies in LA, breathless,
that will change Sheri's life forever.

Of course, unaware that Gabriel never woke up, Sheri shuttles the kids (Janelle and Maxim) from
Shamu to stingrays, leaving happy-dolphined messages that are never returned.

She learns of her husband’s death via cell phone one morning, dropping full-body on AMC theater
carpeting - her only comfort as her mother reveals the agonizing surprise of the dead body they
found in the bedroom upstairs.  Her brother’s nightmares most certainly will never be the same.

Sleep apnea, medications and a bad heart curtailed the life of her Gabe, but she needs to get the kids
back to LA unknowing that he died.  She just can’t imagine having them restrained in plane seats
for 6 hours with the knowledge that their “Daddy-Man” has died. A Southwest 1-800 operator cools
her panic by standing in the call-center and sermoning a group prayer.  Sheri can go home now with
the hope that an entire airline is standing behind her, even though they murmured faceless “amens.”

Throughout her immediate pain, are the stories from her childhood crocheted from her grandparents’
farm revealing a path to help her cope. They salt the lessons that she has to force-feed their children,
wild-eyed in pain as they learn of their father’s passing.  These memories of her childhood carry her
forward to finally decide that she refuses to live in a sad house, despite the under-bellied tactics of
some of her neighbors and “friends.” She gets kicked in the chops by charity do-gooders and
compassionless mommies that now consider her a predator instead of an ally—a new hot mama that
could upset their plastic surgery budgets and jewelry agendas.

Yes, her childhood memories remind her of the simplicity of life before all her real estate dealings—she
is no stranger to success.  Indiana grasses whisper a prayer of repair and encourage her to rise
above these Calabasas commoners.  Stories of her upbringing retell the memories of fire and pain,
of death and bleak resolve, forcing her to realize a pure life beyond her gated community’s fences.
The sun is still shining somewhere on this earth.

Come join her on this formidable ride. . . .

Sit on her shoulder, with her Grandmother there,
and she will whisper the fearless secrets of
